Any idea how to set a timeout of the splash screen?

I have a web app with a custom splash screen. Lets say the web app is started when the webserver is offline. What happens in my case is that the web app doesn’t go past the splash screen. Can I use a timer and show an error message after lets say 15 seconds if the page doesnt load?

The code you wrote is really great and easy to use (I know nothing about java)!
I’m updating the iPhone version of my website with the last version of your code and I wanted to know if it is under MIT license?
